It's a wet day in Cowes today. Lots of inside time, drinking tea, reading, and playing games with Jo.

Goodbye Egg and Spoon
Dropping off Jemima to school I headed over with Jo to one of our favorite places for a coffee, the Egg and Spoon. Only to discover that it was shut, for good. Due to 'Family Illness'.
The coffee was good; Brian got my piccolo just to my liking. The food was pretty much all made in the kitchen by Amanda. A rarity these day!
Goodbye, you will be missed!

Baby Plover
The last couple of days we have discovered a family of plovers in our front yard. There where five now there are four...
Our girls have been quite excited and have watched their protective mother out of our front window. There is something quite nice watching nature happen around you.

Cargo Bikes, inital investigations
Christina and myself are exploring the option of a Dutch style cargo bike. So I thought I'd check out the local bike shop in Cowes.
Their first response was what is a Cargo Bike? I told them to look up google. After that they went on to tell me the reasons not to get a Cargo Bike. There are no seats for the Children... (rubbish) they are unstable... Towing a trailer is a better choice....(We already have one)
I was disappointing that they had such strong opinions considering that they had never heard of a Cargo bike prior to me walking in; let alone never ridden such a bike! I'm unsure how they could have formed such opinions without even given such a bike a go or at least read a review. All the reviews which I have read have been positive.
On reflection I wouldn't go to this shop for the obvious reasons. I wish people could just be honest and say I don't know anything about these bikes.

Saturday, MotoGP Cowes
Just got back from a stroll down Cowes main street. Certainly a good feeling in the air...
Not a car!
The closest I got to Casey Stoner, only watched for a tick.

Moto GP, Phillip Island
Just got back from the run to kinda in San Remo from Cowes. Lots of bikes and lots of police. There is no way I'd want to be on a bike in this weather.
Update from the abc on how things are going::

| terrible weather... |
Further rain is forecast for later in the day, with more wet weather also expected for qualifying on Saturday, organisers said on the race's website.Looks like I won't be doing much at all this week end.
The rain had caused sand to spread onto parts of the track and staff had been deployed to sweep it off.

Election 2010 :: Greg Hunt, down....
I took this picture on the corner of Church St and Thompson Avenue in Cowes. The sign is a picture of Greg Hunt the local liberal representative, fallen down with a bit of excrement on it (Bottom left).
It now blends in well with the empty block of land, fallen, wrecked: that block has been an eye sore for years.
When I first saw it I wondered how long it would be standing, considering it's prominence.
Not that long.
By the way no reply to my email from Greg...

Egg and Spoon
Good news for coffee lovers. Phillip Island has at last a place that makes coffee which I can recomend.
The "Egg and Spoon", Settlement Rd opposite Mitre Ten. They get their coffee from a small little roaster in Trafalgar Called "Southern Addictions" which we have sourced when we are over in that part of Gippsland.
Ahh two grinders, one especially for decaf. Try finding that in any other place for coffee in Phillip Island!
