roast log, behmor 1600, 24th march 2010

Bean:: coffee snob, "Decaf Wow"
Weight: 437gm
Weight roasted:: 373gm
Ambient temp :: 17.1c
Weight Profile ::1 pound
Profile :: P2 "c"
Time :: 21.30s
First Crack:: 8.38s
Rolling Crack::7.48s
Second crack 5.10s
Cool down:: 2.06 Happening into the cool down.

Grading, sweet maria:: 11 cs
Notes: Little lighter in weight than I would have liked, but that was all the beans left. Great smell after finishing. No oils coming through on the beans, though close! Suspect the roast never got to the cooler part of the profile so probably roasted a bit quicker than I would have liked.

Weight: 500gm
Weight roasted:: 420gm
Ambient temp :: 20.9c
Weight Profile ::1 pound
Profile :: P2 "c"
Time :: 21.30s
First Crack:: 6.10s
Rolling Crack::??s
Second crack 2.55s
Cool down:: 2.00 Happening into the cool down.

Grading, sweet maria:: 10-11 City+
Notes: The is the first large amount of decaf that I've roasted. Really hard to hear a second crack. The other thing I expected was a quicker roast which didn't happen.

I'm probably going to try a different decaf next time. There isn't enough information from coffee snobs about the bean or where it is from.

Taste will tell!

Roast Log, Behmor 1600, 7th of February

Behmor Home Coffee Roaster + 8 pounds coffee + free shipping

Bean:: coffee snob, "Decaf Wow"
Weight: 300gm
Weight roasted:: 262gm
Ambient temp :: 20.1c
Weight Profile ::1/2 pound
Profile :: P2 "c"
Time :: 1400
First Crack:: 4.18s
Rolling Crack::??
Second crack 3.30s
Cool down:: 3.30s
Grading, sweet maria:: 11-12 full city+
Notes:: Even though 1C and 2C happened in the first profile I wanted to move it a little bit sooner. So it started closer to the commencement of the 2nd profile!
Once again the times we are aiming at are :: 5.35secs and then ramps back up at 1.25 where things cool a bit in the 2nd profile.
The result, beans appeared a bit lighter. The 1C and 2C happened roughly in the middle of the second profile.

Coffee roast log, Behmor 1600, 26th Jan, 2010

Behmor Home Coffee Roaster + 8 pounds coffee + free shipping

Bean:: coffee snob, "Decaf Wow"
Weight: 250gm
Weight roasted:: 215gm
Ambient temp :: 17.2C
Profile :: P2 "c"
Time :: 1400
First Crack:: 5.05s
Rolling Crack:: 4.52s
Cool down:: 4.03s
Grading, sweet maria:: 12 full city+
Notes:: this time Im trying to get the time to extent between 1st and 2nd crack. So using 'p2'. Calculated. 'p2' to eneter 2nd profile at 5.35secs and then ramps back up at 1.25.
So what happened. Entered first crack at 5.05s went to Rolling Crack at 4.52s then 2nd Crack 4.03s
The look of the roast looks great. But I would like to hear first crack about when the Behmor starts to cool on the the 2nd pofile.
The Behmor wont let me extend the profile to 'd', so for my next roast the only option is to extend the weight. Will try this latter in the day.

Roasting log, behmor 1600, 16 Jan, 2009 x2

Bean:: coffee snob, "Decaf Wow"
Weight: 110gm
Weight roasted:: 97gm
Ambient temp :: 12.7c
Profile :: P2
Time :: 830 -70s
First Crack:: 44s
Rolling Crack:: 22s
Cool down:: 00sec

Notes:: still think 1C is running into 2C. Very hard to tell. The actual look of beans is where I want things. Will try an extra 10s next roast. Also pretty cold in Cowes which may have been a variable. Won't touch this for 4 days before judging taste.
